The Noe Family consists of two generations
of Noes. Bob and Carrol Noe, who are in their 60's, and their
son Tim, his wife Jennifer and their 4-year-old son Timmy, all
lived in the Noe home on Azucar Way. Bob and Carrol were out of
town when the fires hit Rancho Bernardo, but Tim and his family
were among those that were evacuated when the Witch Fire hit the
small community of Westwood. They returned home to find their
home was destroyed.

News Coverage with the Noe Family:
Excerpts from a note from the Noe's Daughter-in-law, Daneen Noe:
Good morning friends and family,
I wanted to take a few minutes to thank all of you for your thoughts
and prayers during this perilous time in Rancho Bernardo. I’m
sure that you have all heard that our house is fine (with the
exception of smoke, soot and some burned items outside of our
home). Unfortunately, Bobby’s parents (Bob and Carrol Noe)
weren’t as fortunate. Their house burned to the ground.
Our street was one of the hardest hit. Twenty some homes burned
down. There is much devastation. All 8 homes in our block, on
our side of the street only, are all still standing, while the
lower half of our street is completely gone, many houses across
the street, and up the hill from us. We are amazed that these
homes in our block are unscathed.
We were able to get our family and my brother and sister-in-law
and their son (Tim, Jen & Timmy) out of our homes. This is
truly all that matters. As we fled Rancho Bernardo, we were surrounded
by thick smoke and ashes. The Santa Anna winds gusting at high
speeds, made the ashes appear as snow in our headlights.
We are truly amazed and blessed in our community. We have had
numerous National Guardsmen, police and fire, Red Cross, church
groups, neighbors & many more, protecting and helping one
another. We have had people driving by to offer sifting boxes,
masks, shovels, rakes, pizza, cookies, water, power drinks, paper
towels, and the list goes on and on. My nephew, who’s 5
and lost every toy and item of clothing that he had, has been
given new toys, gift cards & clothes. Bob & Carrol were
out of town while all of this happened, so they weren’t
able to grab any valuable items or mementos. When Carrol’s
neighbor behind her, that she didn’t even know, heard that
she was a painter, she went out and purchased acrylic paints &
supplies for her to begin painting again! These are just a few
of the stories of the out-pouring of love in our community. It’s
truly amazing.
I have to tell you, that while the family was sifting through
the rubble at Bob and Carrol’s, they were able to find Jen’s
wedding band and engagement ring, necklaces of Carrol’s,
as well as meaningful rings that belonged to Carrol! Praise the
Lord! We were so thrilled to find some “treasures”
amidst the tragedy.
Among the many media interviews, I was very proud of one in particular.
When Carrol was asked about the devastation, her reply was that
“life is more than just a house. It’s about family
and friends, and God that we serve.” This is so true. Even
little Timmy told the camera man, “God moved our hearts
to a different home.” I don’t think that
a 5 year old meant anything deep by that statement, but really,
when you think of it, how very profound! “Home is where
our hearts are!” It’s not the structure that makes
it our home, it’s the love that we fill it with. And we
can take that with us! Bob and Carrol will rebuild and Tim’s
family will find a new home to live in. We will all pitch in to
help in these efforts, and love will fill these new walls. I know
that they will continue to keep Christ as their true foundation,
and we will build new memories.
As I type this, I have a restoration crew removing the smoke,
ash and soot from my home. We will soon be back in our home, and
back into our regular routine. But for so many around us, that
is not the case. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.
All the best, Daneen Noe Family
